TA85 Apartment,
Restoring Harmony: A Historic Tel-Avivian Family Home
Styling a 75m² apartment in Tel Aviv. completed
Located in the heart of one of Tel Aviv's most vibrant, trendy neighborhoods, the TA85 Apartment carried the classic "old-school" charm of the city but lacked a cohesive soul. Previously used as a multi-tenant roommate apartment, the space was fragmented, with mismatched colors on the walls, doorways, and window frames that made the layout feel cluttered and small. Our mission for this young family of four was to strip away the years of disconnected living and transform this "roommate shell" into a unified, serene family home.
Our primary design strategy was Restorative Minimalism. We didn't need to rebuild the apartment; we needed to uncover its potential.
The Clean Slate: We began by neutralizing the chaotic palette of the past. By removing the varied colors from walls and frames, we established a "peaceful slate" that allowed the apartment's traditional architectural features to breathe.
Mood-Driven Zoning: Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, we developed unique color and mood boards for every room. These were carefully curated to work with the apartment's existing fixtures, ensuring the design felt integrated and intentional rather than "tacked on."
Strategic Furnishing: We selected furniture that bridged the gap between "modern functional" and "traditional shell," prioritizing pieces that offered comfort for two children while maintaining the parents' sophisticated urban aesthetic.
By respecting the traditional bones of the building while modernizing the interior logic, we created a functional home that feels both deeply rooted in Tel Aviv's history and perfectly ready for a new generation.
